Catching Bees

If you want to get a close-up view of the native bees visiting your plants, you are going to have to catch them. Robert Delph of the Colorado Plateau Museum of Arthropod Diversity in Flagstaff, Arizona has made a fantastic set of videos available on the internet to show you how. 

Robert shows you various ways to catch bees and other insects and, if you are interested, he also shows how to pin and label your collection. Some of you may also be interested to know Robert is the co-designer and builder of my DCBCD (Delph-Cobb Bug Collecting Device) seen below. The man's got talent.

  • Thanks a bunch for visiting the new 2010 version of the Texas Bee Watchers website. I try to post photos of bees and plants to help you learn about the native bees of Texas. I also provide links to other sites that provide information on native bees.
