If you are interested in making a solitary bee nest condo for your garden, this paper describes how to build an inexpensive shelter that is appropriate for a large field. It also describes various nest boxes that were inserted inside the shelter. In particular, I like the instructions for an observation nest box (above, and see 6 in the instructions). The observation nest boxes would be excellent for showing children and adults the nesting styles of various solitary bees. I'm hoping to build some this spring.
